The tricks to the best MF characters found here.

In all my years of playing Diablo II and Diablo II LOD, I was always astonished by people with great MF characters and their ability to accumulate wealth in the game.  I had always tried to give my characters some MF gear but I could never get to the next level.  One Sunday morning in October, I decided to make my first sorceress.  Today, that sorceress is level 90, with 335 MF and still deals 10K fireball damage.  Today, I share my MF knowledge with you.

The Balance

This is the aspect of an MFer that I feel is the most important, that is why I am taking the liberty of putting it first in my Magic Find Guide.  The balance is having enough MF and enough damage at the same time.  Many people who are new to making MF characters seem to think is all about the MF number.  However, if you want to MF in nightmare or hell, you need to do damage also.  You have to properly balace the number of MF and the amount of damage you do.

If you have a proper balace, you should be able to effortlessly kill hell Andariel and Mephisto (what I do in a run) in between 2 - 3 minutes, while still holding a good number of MF(250 - 350).  The proper balance can help you get in a lot of runs in a short amount of time.  A good MF character should not take 10 minutes per magic find run.  If this is the case, MF must be sacrificed for damage.  You should be able to get 2-5 runs in 10 minutes with a magic find character.

The Items

Premier magic find items are the ones you always hear about, Ali Baba's, Skullder's, Shako's, 4 Isted Monarchs, Gold Wrap's, Chancies... you get the point.  Having all these items on usually results in low damage and high MF.  Here is my break down.

Helm - The Shako is a must have, 50 MF (74 MF with P Topaz, 75 Isted) and +2 to skills.  This helps you either way.

Armor - Skullder's is a good armor for an MFer, although it's only +1 to all skills, its MF increases with character level.  Ideally, Enigma is the armor of choice.
*However, for sorceresses, I prefer the combination of a P Topazed Tal's Armor, Tal's Belt and Tal's Ammy.  Here, you get +2 to skills, and MF from the Belt and Armor, you also get MF as a set bonus for having on 3 items in the set.

Amulet - Something that helps your characeter's skills or damage, preferably Mara's or Tal's combination.

Belt - Again, help your character with this one. Ex. Arach or Verdungo's, or the Tal's combo.

Rings - SOJ's for casters and BK's for Melee MFer's, NO NAGELS!

Weapon - Again do damage here, Ecshuta, BOTD, Death's Fathom, Occy, HOTO.  Aim for the skills and socket it with skill enhancers if you can, like facets.

Shield - Once again, help your characer. Lidless, Stormshield, Exile, Sactuary.

Gloves - Toss up, I prefer helping the character damage here too, Magefist's, Frosties or + to skill rare gloves.  On the MF side, go chancies.

Boots - Toss up, this is the area where you make up for what you're lacking... if you're only at about 190 MF, go War Travs, but if you're in the 250 range, get Treks, S Spurs, G Spurs or anything else that can patch up the holes.

Weapon Snap - This is something I feel to be a caster only technique, but if you're not a caster and want to try it, be my guest.  On your weapon snap, have a high MF weapon or weapon shield combination.  When the enemy is getting low on health... weapon snap and FINISH HIM!!  Good weapon snappers include Gull Daggers, Ali Baba's, Isted Shields, and the Soul Collector Rune Staff.

CHARMS - This is a given, MF small, and even large/grand when you're just starting.  Upgrade them as you find them and dump off the smaller ones.  Remember to leave some inventory room to grab items... leave about 4 columns.
